Appalachian Project

It is time for you to gain awareness of your OWN history. We will watch a series of videos that discuss the history of Appalachia. While watching these videos you will be required to write a daily reaction of what you saw.


Your assignment:

1. Each day you will write a reaction to the video (4 days) 200 points

2. You will complete a PowerPoint presentation over a topic from Appalachian history (500 points)

3. You will also make a poster to hang in the hallway (100 points)

The PowerPoint Presentation must include the following:

1. Map of the area discussed (1 slide)

2. What was the event? (numbers 2-6; 2-3 slides)

3. Who was involved?

4. When was it?

5. Where was it?

6. What happened?

7. Pictures if possible (Spread throughout)

8. Firsthand accounts if possible

9. Why was it important? Or why do we care? (Points 9 and 10; 2 slides)

10. What can we learn about Appalachian history from this event?
